References and testimonials nurture trust–an important element when you’re trying to get a job or make a sale. Consider the value of these marketing best practices and ask yourself how you can put them to use when you’re marketing yourself.

References are just one way to use a marketing tool to your own personal advantage. Can you boost your brand with a blog, a marketing campaign, etc.? Get creative about how you present yourself if you really want to stand out, get a new job, secure a contract, publish your writing, etc. Marketing can be used to your benefit. You just have to think about how you can put it to work for you.
